Policies

We want learning with the Auditory Processing Institute to be clear, fair and accessible. This page sets out our policies on refunds and cancellations, complaints, privacy and accessibility for our website, courses, community and events. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, email us at admin@apdsupport.com.

Refunds and Cancellation Policy

EFFECTIVE DATE: 21st October 2026

At the Auditory Processing Institute (API), we want you to feel confident investing in your professional learning. This policy explains how refunds and cancellations work for our courses, memberships, workshops and events.

Any different terms for a specific offering will be clearly stated before purchase. Nothing in this policy limits any rights or remedies available to you under applicable law.

Online courses and digital programs

You may request a full refund within 14 calendar days of purchase, provided:

  • You have completed less than 10% of the course or program; and
  • No completion certificate or continuing education units (ASHA CEUs or AAA CEUs) have been issued.

For preordered courses, the 14-day period begins when course access becomes available.

Outside these conditions, we do not ordinarily offer refunds for a change of mind, changes in availability or failure to complete a course. Exceptional circumstances may be considered as outlined below.

If a refund is approved, access to the refunded course and any associated materials, community access or benefits will end.

Course payment plans

A course payment plan spreads the total purchase price across agreed installments. It is not a monthly subscription.

Unless an eligible refund is approved or applicable law provides otherwise, choosing to stop participating in a course does not cancel the remaining installments. The total price and payment schedule will be disclosed before purchase.

If a full course refund is approved, payments already made will be refunded and remaining installments will be canceled.

‍

Exceptional circumstances

We understand that unexpected situations happen. If illness, a family emergency or another significant circumstance affects your participation, please contact us.

We consider these requests individually and may offer a refund, credit, transfer or extension. These discretionary options do not affect your rights under applicable law.

Access or delivery problems

If you cannot access your purchase, believe you have been charged incorrectly or feel the offering materially differs from its description, please contact us promptly so we can investigate and provide an appropriate solution.

The change-of-mind deadlines and course completion limits above do not restrict any remedies you are entitled to under applicable law.

How to request a refund

Email admin@apdsupport.com  with:

  • Your name and the email address used for purchase;
  • The course, membership or event name;
  • Your purchase date or order number; and
  • A brief explanation of your request.

We aim to respond within 5 business days.

Approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method, ordinarily within 10 business days of approval. Your payment provider may require additional processing time.

Policy updates

We may update this policy from time to time. The version in effect when you purchase will apply to that purchase, unless a change is required by law or you agree otherwise.

Complaints

Effective Date: 21st Octber 2026

At the Auditory Processing Institute (API), we welcome feedback and take complaints seriously.

If you have a concern about a course, service or your experience with API, please email admin@apdsupport.com  with your name, details of your concern and the outcome you are seeking.

We will acknowledge your complaint within 2 business days and aim to provide a response within 10 business days. If we need more time to investigate, we will keep you informed.

If you are not satisfied with our response, you may request a further review by API’s leadership.

We will handle complaints respectfully and confidentially, sharing information only as needed to investigate and resolve the concern. Raising a complaint will not affect your access to fair treatment or any rights available under applicable law.

This shares limited information about your visit, such as the pages you viewed and your device and browser details, with Meta. We receive only the details needed to manage your purchase, such as your name, the product purchased, the amount paid, payment status and transaction reference.

Please do not send full payment card numbers, security codes or financial account details by email or through community discussions.

Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop essential communications about your purchases, account, course access or service changes.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Cookies, analytics and advertising
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep the site working: for example, remembering your session and supporting course log-in.
  • Understand how the site is used: we use Google Analytics, which uses cookies, and Plausible, which does not use cookies and does not collect personal information.
  • Advertising: we use the Meta Pixel to measure our ads and show them to people who have visited our site.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook or Instagram account. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Community participation

Information you post in community spaces may be visible to other participants, depending on the space’s settings.

Please avoid sharing information you do not want others to see. Do not post identifiable patient information or another person’s confidential information without appropriate authorization.

Recordings, photographs and testimonials

If an API session will be recorded, we will notify participants and explain its intended use and audience.

We will obtain permission where required before using identifiable photographs, recordings or testimonials for promotional purposes. Any participation or consent options will be explained at the relevant time.

Artificial intelligence

We use AI tools, such as Google Gemini and Anthropic Claude, to help our team with tasks such as drafting and editing content, planning, analysis and administration.

We do not enter patient information into AI tools. We limit the personal information we share with them to what is needed for the task, and where possible we remove names and other identifying details first. A member of our team reviews AI-assisted work before it is used or published.

We use paid business or professional plans, and choose settings that limit how providers can use our information, including for training their AI models. Information shared with these tools is held according to each provider’s own policies.

AI-generated information may contain errors and does not replace independent professional or clinical judgment. Our courses and clinical content are developed and approved by Dr Angela Alexander.

International processing

The Auditory Processing Institute is a United States company that also operates in New Zealand. Our team works mainly from New Zealand, with team members in other countries. We serve clinicians internationally.

To deliver our services, your information may be stored, processed or accessed in countries other than your own, including the United States, New Zealand and other countries where our team members or service providers are located. Most of our service providers (such as our course, email, payment and analytics providers) store data in the United States, and some may also process information in other countries, such as Canada or the European Union.

Where the law requires it, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is protected to a comparable standard. For example, we use providers that offer appropriate contractual safeguards, and our team only accesses information needed for their role.

Security and retention

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse or disclosure. No online system can guarantee absolute security.

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to deliver services, maintain learning and certification records, resolve disputes and meet legal, accounting or accreditation obligations.

When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it. Any retained backups remain subject to appropriate protection until removed through our backup processes.

Where required by law, we will notify affected individuals and relevant authorities of a privacy breach.

Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of or deletion of your information; obtain a copy; restrict or object to certain processing; withdraw consent; or opt out of certain disclosures.

Contact admin@apdsupport.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity before responding and will respond within applicable legal timeframes.

Some information may need to be retained for legal, accounting or continuing education requirements. We will explain any applicable limitations.

Where we rely on consent, withdrawing it does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Business name and address: API Global, LLC, 9629 North Golden Prairie Road, Moundridge, Kansas, USA 67107
